Sixthfloor
As a matter of principle Art is Contamination. We speak of contamination every time the artistic language creates a short circuit between the universality and the genius loci, this happens when the classic, previously consumed within the limits of galleries and museums, opens to other areas giving rise to new developments.

When Art comes into spaces that before were occupied by machines civilization, new opportunities of relations comes out and trigger interesting creative processes.

This is the case of the project Sixthfloor – Koerich, Luxembourg – an artistic residence built inside an old sawmill, born to create a virtuous circle in which, in addition to the exchange between community and artists, it is promoted the meeting of experiences, relationships and dialogues, where spaces and resources are available.

Everything revolves around six founders artists that are Anne-Claude Jeitz, Jeannine Unsen, Joachim Van der Vlugt, Patrick Meyer, Tom Flick, Wouter Van der Vlugt and Lukas Arons, to which were recently added Nadine Cloos and Katarzyna Kot-Bach, artists that with their different characteristics makes Sixthfloor a unique place of production.

In Sixthfloor are regularly invited Luxembourg artists and internationals to mix styles, thoughts and give rise to exhibitions. In this regard the next 24 September at 6pm will open Granite & Glass, exhibition of the artists Lars Widenfalk and Alena Matejka. Lars, born in Sweden, works granite and sculptures in glass, iron and bronze by producing very raw works setting out his vision. Alena is a versatile artist that ranges from sculptures on stone to works made with soft and synthetic fabrics.
